A Bridesmaid is now a Bride to Be

Bridesmaid & best friend of 23 years, Kimber Lee got engaged over the weekend. She called to share the amazing news and I was on top of the world! Josh picked an amazing woman and I'm so happy for them both. During my phone conversation, Kimber & I kept laughing about the fact we both got engaged the same year. How ironic? Right?

Also, Kimber Lee decided to wait a few days to announce it because she had a lot of people to tell in person. I had to wait days...to post this blog! It's been KILLING ME! Now, it's facebook official, so I can share it with the world. I'm ready for the wedding!!

The Influence Of Reggae

I grew up with a variety of different styles of music and have an appreciation for all. At age 3, my father introduced me to Bob Marley. At the time, I was too young to really understand who the man was and his popularity world wide. I can remember watching a music video by Bob Marley that featured a little boy and girl in Hawaii. I guess since I was just 3 years old, I was drawn to the video since it featured young children. The song was called " Waiting in Vain." Since then, this song still holds special memories that I associate them with my father. We refer to this song as our song. I guess this was the start of my love for Reggae. You will be hearing Bob Marley for sure at the wedding.

Our Photographer Rocks!

As our wedding approaches, I have been reading our photographer's blog, whenever I can. I haven't had the chance to meet Robyn in person, but judging by our e-mails and gmail conversations, I think we are going to get along GREAT! She just posted some pictures of a wedding she shot recently and I thought she did a fabulous job. I can't wait to see our wedding photos.

Who is BB?

When I was about 5 years old, my brother, Jason, gave me my first nickname, "BB". Every afternoon as I was returning from school, I was greeted with my brother's welcoming arms and childish screams of "BB". It's a memory I have ingrained in my brain and will always keep in my heart.

While growing up in Charlotte, NC, all our childhood neighbors caught on to the catchy nickname as well. Till this day, I still get sweet facebook messages with greetings that say " HI BB"!

It's funny where life takes you. I have had many nicknames such as Big Bridge, BEE, B-ridge, and the list goes on.

I guess BB was meant to be because it will soon be my married name.

I received my first bridal shower gift....

My godmother & Aunt Janet and Uncle Fred purchased my veil. It's their shower gift to me. You might remember them from the blog I wrote about them buying my wedding gown.

A BIG THANK YOU TO BOTH OF THEM!!

I'm so excited about it and can't wait to wear it. This past weekend, I had an opportunity to try it on with my dress and it was perfect. I immediately sent pictures to my sister and mother and received the seal of approval. I love all the styles of veils so this task was very challenging. Which one do you think I choose?

I am lucky enough to be blessed with so many lovely women in my life. This bride will get to experience not one but three showers. Everyone is becoming very secretive. VERY SECRETIVE! I know nothing about the three showers. Theme? Colors? I don't even know how to dress. The excitement of it all is killing me. For now... I'm CLUELESS!

The first shower is being thrown by Dee Dee, my boss. I'm calling this my "Work/AAED shower"

Second shower is being thrown by my sister/maid of honor/PIPPA. " East Coast Shower"

Third shower is being thrown by bridesmaid, Nicole & Bianca. " West Coast Shower"

I can't wait to see all the themes and creative things everyone thinks up. I'm most looking forward to spending quality time with all the important ladies in my life.

Sometimes you have to wait....

Well, the post below was regarding a custom hanger that I had ordered. Originally, I was going to wait until after my showers just in case a friend bought one. As soon as the post below went live, bridesmaid, Maya informed me that she had already purchased a custom hanger. I guess great minds think alike. I will have a beautiful hanger for my veil as well!! THANK YOU MAYA!

Speaking of bridesmaid, Maya, she was in a wedding this past weekend for her sorority sister, Jackie. Congratulations Jackie! I wish you and Corey the very best!

Custom Hanger

Etsy is one of my favorite websites because of the unique items. Of course, I have been browsing this site for wedding items and came across these custom hangers. I was going to wait until after my bridal showers to order it but opportunity came knocking on my door this weekend.

A boutique in Old Town Scottsdale had them displayed in their shop and had them available for order. I couldn't help myself! I bought one! I can't wait to see my gown hanging from the Mrs. Blair hanger.

Today is groomsman, Oscar's Birthday. Ryan and I wish him a HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Pippa?

Since the Royal wedding, I have renamed my maid of honor/sister. Suzette is now named PIPPA. She has many nicknames but during the course of the wedding she is now referred to as PIPPA and responds to the name as well. She is the PIPPA of the Walker/Blair wedding. Working hard and being a wonderful sister and maid of honor. Love you chica!

P.S. My sister calls me Kate ;-)

Who has seen the movie, Bridesmaids?

I have seen the movie twice already and I would see it again in a heartbeat. I think it's hilarious and would recommend it to anyone. What was your favorite part? Who was your favorite bridesmaid? I have too many favorite parts to share but I will tell you my favorite bridesmaid was.....

She is the best one! Many funny moments!

The Invites have been ordered

Yesterday, I spent the majority of my day in Old Town Scottsdale with bridesmaid, Nicole.

We had an appointment to finalize the details on the invitation colors, fonts, etc.

I have been working with the owner, Rene, with Celebrations in Paper. All her designs are customized and unique to each wedding. Nicole got to see the sneak preview of what we have been working on and I think I got the thumbs up. A sign of relief! I really like the invites because it's something different and customized to our wedding.

Invitations are going out sometime in July. I hope to reveal the design in August.
