Failed at Sugar Cookies

Have you ever had good intentions about something but it didn't turn out exactly as you had imagined it.   That was me last night as I was "trying" to make Christmas cookies.

This afternoon is my work party and we are supposed to bring 2 dozen cookies to exchange with everyone.  I've been out of town for the past 10 days so as you can imagine I'm behind on everything!!  I can't believe Christmas will be here soon.  Where did the time go?

Last night, I rushed home to get started on my amazing sugar cookies.  In my mind, I had imagined these fabulous sugar cookies decorated to perfection.

Maybe.... something like this??

As I got home last night and changed into comfy clothes.....I started to fall asleep at 6:30 pm.   I should also mentioned I'm on east coast time and very very sleep deprived.

As I attempted my cooking making, I realized quickly I had forgotten key ingredients   Thank goodness for my husband and coming to the rescue by stopping by the store before coming home.

Tea Cup Cookies!

Unfortunately, my sleepiness was still an issue as I kept screwing up the recipe.

Looks more like a Genie Lamp!

One screw up after another....finally I threw up my hands....and gave up

Anyone know of some good bakery's in the Phoenix area??

I'm in need of some COOKIES... ASAP!!  :)

Tea at the Umstead Hotel

Sunday was a special day shared with my mom, sister, best friend and her mother.  We gathered for a high tea at the Umstead Hotel in Cary, NC.

I love tea........especially high tea.

It's something about the elegance of the tea, getting dressed up, lovely ladies, bite size sandwiches, scones and wanting to talk in a British accent.

"Would you like a spot of tea, dear?" - That's my attempt at a British accent. :)

It was a beautiful afternoon and I enjoyed spending some quality time with these wonderful woman. Ohhh the jokes....... I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.  My laugh might have been a little too loud for afternoon tea but I couldn't help it.  Sometimes you just have to let your hair down and enjoy the moment.

I heart orchids!

Love these ladies!

I feel so lucky to have these special moments!  I hope ya'll enjoyed the photos.

Mariah Carey & Jimmy Fallon

When I think Christmas music..... I think... Mariah Carey.

I've been a fan of Mariah Carey since I can remember and  would constantly play her on repeat especially during my childhood/teen years.  My favorite thing to do growing up was to make ice/roller skating routines to all her ballads.  Year round....I was always skating.

A  good friend of mine from 4th grade told me once that every time she hears Mariah on the radio she immediately thinks of me.  If this is true, a lot of people are thinking of me during the holiday season with Mariah's Christmas hits.   I'm sending warm Christmas greetings to all my friends and family.  I hope everyone is getting ready for the holiday and enjoying the Christmas cheer.  It's my favorite time of the year......I mean really....CHRISTMAS COOKIES??...I'm IN!

I heart Jim Fallon so it's only fitting that I share with you this video from Mariah Carey, Jim Fallon and the Roots.

Curly Hair Problem #

I came across this tumblr (Curly Hair Problems) last night and couldn't stop laughing.  Maybe it's only funny to me because I'm the one with the issue but I will share anyways.  I'm sure some of my curly head friends can relate.   Happy Wednesday!

Thanksgiving 2012

As I caught up on Christmas shopping this past weekend I realized I never blogged about Thanksgiving.  As always, my mother-in-law, Shirley had every detail in place and we loved every bit of it.  I'm all about the small details because I know each piece took a lot of time, dedication and love.  I hope to be as decor savvy as her one day.  Our Thanksgiving was a family filled event and it was great to see everyone again.  I was miss photographer as I enjoyed capturing all the moments with my new camera.

Ohhhh.. and did we eat.... I was so full.  Funny thing is that everyone brought a dish to share and we had abundance of food.  We barely made a dent but it was good as everyone got to take left overs home.  I ate turkey for days.  I hope you ya'll had a great Thanksgiving filled with love and family.
