It's time to get real ......................and I need your encouragement.
Lets start from the beginning.... I was born with CURLY HAIR!
Actually, my hair growing up wasn't that bad because it was more wavy than curly.
As I approached my teen years, my hair decided to grow a mind of it's own and got curlier.
This is when the struggle began to tame it.
*High School*
My mother has straight hair so she was clueless and wasn't sure where to begin. Being the good mother that she is she seeked help from everyone. I started with chemical straighteners as most girls do with curly hair. Anything to tame the FRO, right!!! Well, as I got into college, I got tired of the chemicals and switched to just blowing drying and flat irons.
Since I can remember, I have always had compliments on my curly hair. I was always told " people pay big bucks for those curls." Something in my brain never truly believed it. Honestly, it's still hard to believe but I'm working on it.
*Curly hair in college*
A few months ago, I was told about a hair salon in Phoenix that specializes in curly hair, Curls Gone Wild. At the time, I was too busy with the wedding planning to check it out. Also, it's not always a good idea to try new hair styles right before you get married.
Two weeks ago, I made an appointment with the ladies of Curls Gone Wild. They cut my hair curly (this was a first for me)! They focused on each curl and how each curl bounced. Such a crazy concept but pretty cool. The whole process took about two hours. They introduced me to some new curly hair products, DevaCurl. Before I left for the evening, they also reminded me once again " people pay big bucks for those curls."
As I left that evening, I decided to give my curls a fighting chance. God gave me this hair so I need to embrace it, right?!
Well, I'm trying to embrace it. I have worn my hair curly for two weeks straight now.
A big thanks to everyone that has been so encouraging. I need it!
Oh yes, have I mentioned that my hair has gotten curlier since college. YES, CURLIER! OMG!
My husband has been so great and prefers the curls!
Wish me luck... here we go!
