Curly Inspiration

As child I remember watching the music video "The Way You Make Me Feel" by Michael Jackson and thinking I was going to grow up to look just like the woman in the video. Have you ever done this??

Clearly, I didn't grow up to be a model but I still have this person in my curly inspiration book.  I love her curls and hope to have long curly hair like her one day.

Lately, it feels like my pretty ringlets have become "curlier"-- is this even possible?  Actually, some parts of my hair  have become straighter and some are curlier??!!  Seriously, I need a hair intervention!

My new obsession: Bikram Yoga

A friend of mine recently convinced me to buy a groupon  for yoga classes.  It was such a great deal so of course I had to buy it.  Little did I know what I was getting myself into when I showed up for class on Saturday.   I came dressed in gym gear, with a yoga mat.  That means... I had NO WATER, or towel.  My instructor quickly informed me that I needed water for this exercise and she threw me a towel.  Lucky, they had water to buy.

I didn't realize this was BIKRAM YOGA (better known as HOT YOGA).  What is Bikram yoga? I went to Wikipedia for the best description. "Bikram Yoga is a system of yoga that Bikram Choudhury synthesized from traditional hatha yoga [1] techniques and popularized beginning in the early 1970s. [2][3]
Bikram's classes run exactly 90 minutes and consist of a set series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. Bikram Yoga is ideally practiced in a room heated to 105°F (≈ 40.6°C) with a humidity of 40%, [citation needed] and is the most popular form of hot yoga (a series of yoga poses done in a heated room)."

Let me tell you right now... IT'S HOT!!   I was dripping sweat from head to toe after our 80 minute work out!    I was soaking wet but loved the amazing work out.  I felt like I  had released a ton of stress and toxins!  It was FABULOUS!  I went Sunday and last night as well.

I have to admit that last night KICKED my butt.  I think it was because I had a long day at work and then went straight to yoga .  I was already exhausted when I showed up for class.

It was still a great experience and I slept like a baby.  If you want a killer work out---I highly suggested Bikram yoga.  It's not easy but nothing in life is easy.

Baby Gaver's Reveal Party... Boy or Girl?

Jeannie & Sam are expecting their first child this winter and I couldn't be more thrilled for them.  Recently, they had a reveal party for their close family and friends.  I LOVED the theme of the party, "Beau or Bow".  They encouraged their friends and family to wear pink or blue to show what " team" they were representing.  Below is a big box that contained pink or blue ballons.    Only one person knew the sex of the baby and that was Jeannie's long time best friend, Kathryn.  She had the doctor mail her the results and she proceeded in creating this fun/decorative box for the party.

Make sure to check out the video below to see the sex of the baby!!

Cutest SIGN!

Bows & Mustaches!

Nice Mustache Scout!

Look at all those smiles!

Jeannie's face in this video is CLASSIC!!  Such a wonderful surprise!

Kimber & Josh's Wedding Invite

On Wednesday, most of Kimber's wedding guests were receiving their invitation to THE BALL aka Kimber & Josh's wedding!  I knew most likely I had to wait a few days since I live all the way in Arizona....so I had to be patient (tough).   Once I got home that evening, to my SHOCK there was something shiny waiting for me in the mail.  Yes, I received it on Wednesday as well!!  How in the world did it get to Arizona so quickly??!!  I'm still trying to figure out that mystery.    Thank you mail-man!

The wedding invite mixed in my typical mail.

Here's all the invites as they were being dropped off this week to the post office.

July Kayaking Trip

The Kayaking Crew (picture taken with someone's iphone)

Can you believe it's August already!?! This summer is flying by but that's a good thing when you live in Arizona with 100++ each day.  I'm so ready for FALL!

You may remember my blog in May talking about our 4 hour kayaking trip....does 13 miles ring a bell?  Soooo much work but so much fun!  Since then we've been encouraging anyone around us to join us on another trip but this time we will take it easy and do the 2 hour tour. In early July, we decided to celebrate my cousin's wife's birthday with another kayaking trip.

As you may remember, the first time I kayaked the Salt River I was afraid of losing my phone/camera in the water so I didn't take any pictures.  This time around I came prepared and bought THIS..... a waterproof disposable camera.

I felt like I stepped back in the 1990's with this camera.  I had a hard time using it too.  Goodness, it was a good reminder of how technology has changed.   You'll also notice the pictures below look like I "Instagram" them but that's not the case.  It's just the camera.....OLD SCHOOL QUALITY.    Since, I actually had to drop this camera off and wait for the pictures.  It look me a month to finally drop off the camera.  I know that makes me sound lazy but I've been spoiled by technology!  Enjoy the photos below.

It's hard to see but those are white horses in the distance.

Vegetables?

Source: ww.joyoftech.com

My brother in-law posted this on his Facebook a few days ago and immediately it caught my attention.   As I a read the funny cartoon--I realized it was true.  I was raised on a really good diet and I have my parents to thank for that one.  "Green" items were always a staple at our dinner table.  Now, as a busy adult I try my best to keep those things in my daily diet.  This cartoon is a good reminder to education the young on healthy eating. It's also a good reminder to myself.  SALAD for lunch!

Baby Wreath

Carey & Baby Eliza

A week ago, I received a text from Carey with the image below.  The wreath was originally made for her baby shower but didn't arrived until a week later.  She still put it to good use by hanging it on Baby Eliza's door.   Made my day!
