Going to Carolina in my Mind

A lot of the wedding guests have never been to North Carolina. For some, it's their first adventure to the east coast. What should you expect to see?

DON'T EXPECT THIS!
(well..maybe but we won't go there)

North Carolina is my home and has a understated beauty and charm. This is one of the many reasons why I wanted to get married there. I'm hoping our guests take this trip as a mini vacation to experience the many beauties North Carolina has to offer.

The Old Well, Chapel Hill, NC
Campus tradition dictates that a drink from the Old Well on the first day of classes will bring good luck (or straight A's).

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in the Outer Banks
Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is the tallest in the nation and famous symbol of North Carolina.

Dogwood Tree
The blossom of the dogwood tree was designated as the official state flower of North Carolina in 1941. The Dogwood is one of the most common trees in North Carolina.

The Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC
Biltmore Estate is a Chateauesque-styled mansion built between 1889 and 1895 by George Washington Vanderbilt II. It's also the largest privately-owned home in the United States.

Blue Ridge Mountains
Blue Ridge Mountains are a part of the Appalachian Mountains and also noted for their bluish color when see from a distance.

Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers are a professional American football team based in Charlotte, NC.

Pinehurst Resort is a historic upmarket golf resort at Pinehurst, NC. It's been around since 1895 and has hosted a number of prestigious golf tournaments.

Duke Chapel was built in 1932 and is located in the center of Duke University in Durham, NC.

The Memorial Bell Tower is located on the NC State campus in Raleigh, NC. In 1937, it was constructed as a monument to alumni killed in World World I.

Cheerwine is a soft drink produced by the Carolina Beverage Corporation in Salisbury, NC. It's been around since 1917.

The UNC Clef Hangers is the oldest a cappella group at the UNC Chapel Hill. The group was founded in 1977 and their first concert was in the Spring of 1979. It was their first concert where the Clef Hangers adopted their traditional vests and bowties, which are now a signature look for the group.

  1. Thanks for the reminder. I really miss NC although I was there a year ago. I was busy doing something important with my sister so I didn't get a chance to do the "tourist thing". This next trip, we definately will. So excited.
